this'n'that
well i had hoped to be posting some photos from my recent trip but being the rather low-tech gal i am the aps film i shoot is not back from the corner drugstore just yet. so instead i’ll share a few of the happenings from my day : got up around 5am, yep on purpose. every once in a while i like to get up really early and simply take my time. i sip my coffee slowly and deliberately, flip through some catalogues - none of which i’ll order from, play with the be-whiskered children and basically not rush. it feels pretty good, course so does sleep but i’ll grab some of that this weekend. lunched on sushi with a couple of girlfriends and engaged in bawdy conversation and much laughter…more laughter still when we realized the table of men next to us were wrenching their necks in order to catch every word, that or they thought my miso might taste better than theirs. back at my desk i spoke with my precious friend who is so bravely battling cancer. she is not doing well; it is very scary and it makes me feel so helpless and useless. i want to take my gun and shoot that shit right out of her young and beautiful body. speaking of bodies, a co-worker stopped by my desk to show me a barbie*tm she bought to take to a fundraiser this evening as a gift for some needy, inner-city child. i couldn’t resist giving her tons of hell; i’m pretty good at it. i said ‘great! give the gift that’ll launch a few more eating disorders.” she must enjoy getting me on a roll; all she had to do was walk away just after telling me to fuck off but she tried to argue that this model barbie*tm was designed slightly different , blah, blah, blah. so while i’m telling her all about the potential seven year old, black, four foot tall child who will be subconsciously warped when she rips into her brand new toy to discover the vacant stare and rictus grin of ‘palm beach barbie’*tm gazing back at her i type these three words into yahoo search: eating/disorders/barbie. not only do i get 3,420 hits but i find an old ‘body shop’ ad i remember as being rather clever. say hello to ‘ruby’ the rubenesque mascot…

prevention is kinder than destruction. each year over six million healthy dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are killed as surplus. remember: neuter, spay and don't let them stray!
